The “Redoro Frantoi Veneti” Moth World Championship ends in perfect fashion: races with Peler.
The first warning signal for the Gold fleet at 8 o’clock made the athletes get into the water that the sun had not come out of the mountains yet.
Regattas were also scheduled in the afternoon but unfortunately the Ora came in a little late allowing only one race to be held for the Silver fleet.
In the morning the script remained the same: total domination by Tom Slingsby, Autralia, who won the title of World Champion in the Moth class with two races to spare. Second consecutive victory for him after the world championship in Perth in 2019.
Second place for Iain Jensen, Australia. Closing the podium is the Englishman that calls Fraglia Vela Malcesine home Paul Goodison, who recovered brilliantly after the accident that saw him break the mast.
First Italian Checco Bruni, after a super comeback, second Italian in seventh position the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo Ruggero Tita, and within the top 10 the Fraglia Vela Malcesine athlete Simone Salvà in ninth position.
The Silver fleet saw the Austrian Philipp Hribar come out on top; second from Denmark Frederik Just Melson and third the Croatian Luka Dogan.
The women’s ranking see Josie Gliddon, United Kingdom, on the first step of the podium, and second Jo Aleh, multiple Olympic medalist from New Zealand; both sailors fought in the Gold fleet.
Third woman in the regatta Franziska Mäge from Germany.
Francesco Bruni: “I am extremely happy with how this championship went, achieving my goal. It seemed like a dream after the first few days, and I’m happy with how I moved up in the rankings. A bit of regret remains for the mistakes of the first few days and for not having done enough training before the championship. It was a great battle with Ruggero, especially the last few regattas where we were very close in the points; I thank my sponsors very much for their support ”.
